With direct shop floor supervision from 15 SMOs, a diverse case-mix, and the opportunity to work in a Level 5 hospital, you will gain invaluable experience in a busy, high-acuity setting.

You will be part of a passionate team committed to medical education and career progression.Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti or Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs an ED Registrar at Tauranga Hospital, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, seeing up to 50,000 patients per year.

You will be exposed to a broad range of clinical cases, including paediatrics (20% of the patient load), and will work alongside a supportive team of Senior Medical Officers.
The department offers 17 hours per day of direct shop floor supervision, ensuring you receive excellent support and guidance.
This is an ideal opportunity for ACEM trainees looking to complete their regional or rural training or those seeking a broader experience outside of a major centre.
You will be part of a team that is passionate about medical education, with four hours of protected teaching each week, including simulation and exam preparation for both Primary and Fellowship examinations.

There are also clinical governance frameworks and research opportunities for interested trainees.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe Emergency Department at Tauranga Hospital is a busy, vibrant service that sees a diverse and challenging case-mix.
