Maintenance fitter
About the role
Birtson Engineering Ltd is seeking a talented Plant Maintenance Fitter to join our team in Richmond Tasman. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial equipment. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our customers' manufacturing facility.
What you'll be doing
Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a range of industrial machinery and equipment
Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with machinery to identify and resolve problems
Carrying out repairs and replacements to keep our equipment running at optimal performance
Conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance checks
Maintaining detailed records of all maintenance activities
Collaborating with the engineering team to implement process improvements
Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations
What we're looking for
Formal qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Plant Maintenance Fitter or similar role
Strong technical skills and the ability to read and interpret engineering schematics
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Proficient in the use of a range of hand and power tools
Commitment to health and safety
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
