About the RoleTheGastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit is a dynamic, patient-focused service providinga wide range of diagnostic and interventional endoscopy procedures. As aRegistered Nurse, you will work rostered shifts Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 6:00 pm.In thisrole you will care for patients undergoing both diagnostic and therapeuticendoscopy procedures, while working within a highly skilled multidisciplinaryteam.
This isa fast-paced clinical environment where flexibility, strong clinical judgement,and excellent teamwork are essential.About the ServiceThe Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit undertakes more than14,000 diagnostic and interventional procedures annually and providesspecialised gastrointestinal and respiratory services to the Canterburypopulation.
The service also acts as a secondary and tertiary referral centrefor the South Island.The unit operates from a purpose-built facility atChristchurch Hospital, featuring six procedure rooms and two recovery areasacross two floors. The service also provides specialist endoscopy nursingsupport to other areas of the hospital campus including Waipapa, ParksideOperating Theatres, Interventional Radiology, and ICU.In addition to clinical excellence, the service has a strongresearch programme recognised internationally and an active undergraduate andpostgraduate teaching programme.About YouAs a Registered Nurse in this service, you will bring strongclinical skills and the ability to work confidently in an acute setting.You will also have:Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current APCRecent acute medical or surgical nursing experienceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsThe ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamStrong clinical judgement and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environmentWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuringexcellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
