Positions: Sous Chef & Chef de Partie (Full-Time 5 days a week 35hrs+)

  1. Sous Chef

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support our Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management. This is a hands-on leadership role perfect for someone ready to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and menu planning.
  • Help lead, train, and motivate the kitchen brigade.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standard of quality and consistency.
  • Maintain strict health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Manage inventory, stock ordering, and kitchen organisation.
  • Step in for the Head Chef in their absence.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef De partie
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of modern cafe cuisine, food costing, and kitchen procedures.
  • A creative flair and a passion for using fresh, local produce.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Relevant culinary qualification is preferred.
  1. Chef de Partie (CDP)(Full-Time 5 days a week 35hrs+)

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Chef de Partie to manage a section of our kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity to hone your skills and be a key part of our culinary output.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run a specific section of the kitchen (e.g., grill, larder, pass) efficiently and consistently.
  • Prepare and cook dishes according to Mokaba Cafe’s recipes and standards.
  • Ensure your section is always stocked, clean, and organised.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth service.
  • Uphold all food safety and sanitation regulations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Commis Chef in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Solid understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
  • A strong team player with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently during busy periods.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.
