About the role
Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury - s Maintenance and Engineering (ME) Department are the passionate and dedicated people who maintain, repair and monitor the buildings, technology and systems that help keep our hospitals running. They are looking for an administrator to join their busy team and manage their front of house.
The role would suit someone with the ability to quickly assess information and respond confidently and effectively in all situations. A wealth of customer service and administration experience, combined with a proven track record of working proactively and collaboratively in fast-paced environments, is required.
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 4/Profile 4

In this role, your main responsibilities are to:
- answer telephone calls and respond to emails in a friendly and efficiently manner
- greet and assist visitors
- triage maintenance requests
- assist contractors to sign in and providing appropriate site access
- administer the high-risk permit to work system
- enter leave, overtime, on call schedules and callbacks in our workforce management software
- order stationery and kitchen supplies
- assist with purchasing goods and services
About you
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Excellent customer service skills - people focussed
- Technically savvy - experience with data systems and quick at picking up new applications/systems
- Demonstrated perceptiveness and a proactive approach in an administrator role
- Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Able to achieve high levels of accuracy and maintain attention to detail
- Able to meet deadlines and work unsupervised
- Capable of managing and coordinating a range of different inputs to achieve the agreed outputs
- A team player
- Intermediate to advanced user in the Microsoft suite of products e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel
- Excellent keyboard skills (50 - 70 wpm)
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience in a facilities environment
