The Bistro is owned and operated by local Taupo chef Jude Messenger, the winner of the Monteiths Wild Food Challenge TV series, various other national awards, a 2012 to 2025 finalist, and a 2019, 2023 & 2024 '1 Hat' recipient in the Cuisine Good Food restaurant of the year awards.

The Bistro is very food and service-driven and focused on seasonally fresh local ingredients. Attention to detail is key as our reputation is only as good as the last dish that left the kitchen, and the last guest that left the dining room.
  • The Chef de partie position requires at least 4 years of significant work experience in refined European food. You must have solid references with a career-driven attitude.
  • Opportunity to learn menu development & dish creation.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to be a part of the team are essential, as the successful applicant will be in a prime position to grow their skills and knowledge and progress in their career.
