About the role:
Based at Middlemore Hospital, we have an opportunity to become a Charge Nurse Manager (CNM) in our 22-bed inpatient Medicine ward located in Ward 31. This ward supports Haematology and General Medicine patients.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional and flexible individual who will help us respond in delivering exceptional and patient-centred care, whilst working collaboratively with the current CNM group across the division.
This pivotal leadership role is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse with a passion for high-quality patient care, team leadership, and operational excellence.
As a Charge Nurse Manager, you will:
- Provide professional and clinical leadership for nursing and ward staff.
- Oversee daily operations, staffing, and patient flow to ensure safe and effective care.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership, clinical directors, and allied health teams.
- Lead quality improvement, workforce development, and service innovation.
- Ensure compliance with Te Whatu Ora's strategic goals, values, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead clinical nursing standards and promote a whaanau-centered approach.
- Manage performance development, recruitment, and education plans.
- Monitor and improve clinical risk, safety, and quality indicators.
- Maintain effective resource and financial management across the ward.
- Support the delivery of culturally safe and equitable health outcomes for Maori and Pacific communities.
About You:
- NZ Registered Nurse with current APC
- 5+ years acute clinical experience, post registration in a large hospital setting in NZ
- Proven management and/or leadership experience
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement, risk management and resource utilisation
- Haematology knowledge/experience would be an advantage
