Cherry Harvest Supervisor - Alexandra

About us:Central Cherry Orchard LP is a young orchard, which was established 2019, in a beautiful part of Central Otago, just 5 minutes from Alexandra. We grow only cherries. With 90% of our being able to be picked from ground level. Then the other 10% requiring the use of our short ladders.

Position Overview:As a harvest supervisor, you will be working outside in the orchard. In this role, you’ll oversee a team of approx. 20 pickers, helping to keep everything running smoothly.

Start Dates:We’re hiring 4 supervisors for the busy 6-week harvest starting mid December through to end of January. Ideally, we want local individuals who are eager to return season after season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and monitor pickers activities.
• Ensure pickers health & safety.
• Managing pickers are in the correct rows and selecting the right variety.
• Maintain the quality and quantity of harvested cherries to meet our high standards (e.g. no spurs, colour, maturity, size, doubles, leaves/sticks, and stems)
• Manage picker attendance.
• Manage breaks and water supply.
• Provide guidance on picking techniques and quality standards.

Skills & Requirements:

• Valid work visa or eligible to work in New Zealand.
• Be physically fit and able to stand, walk, reach and lift buckets each day.
• On time, reliable, willing, and available to work required days.
• Positive attitude and good work ethic.
• Follow health and safety rules and orchard policies.
• Previous supervisor or management experience.

Working Conditions:

• Outside orchard work (weather dependent)
• Early starts (approx. 8 hours days)
• Closed toe shoes (appropriate footwear is a must)
