About the Role

Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Whanganui is seeking applications from enthusiastic and proactive Registered Nurses to join our supportive team on the Surgical Ward.

The Registered Nurse is a vital, valued member of the department and plays a pivotal role in the efficient and effective running of the Surgical Ward. We place a high priority on patient focused care that is inclusive of family/whanau.

About the Team/Service

The Surgical Ward is a busy and fast paced environment, and we are seeking motivated candidates who possess strong communication skills and a friendly disposition, have a desire to continue learning, demonstrated honesty and reliability and enjoy working as part of a team.

The combined surgical ward offers a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ENT, and gynaecology for adult patients which can be both challenging and rewarding.

We collaborate and work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide quality coordinated patient care and are committed to delivering safe nursing care that results in a positive patient and whanau experience.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a registered nurse qualification
  • Experience or be familiar with preoperative and postoperative care, pain management and wound care.
  • Has excellent communication and time management skills
  • Strong customer focus and initiative as well as the ability to work under pressure.
  • Has a positive, can do attitude
  • Is sensitive to the needs of others
  • Works well in a team
  • Can adapt to changing situations
