- Permanent part time working 16 hours per week - Saturday and Sunday 7 am to 4.30 pm (Availability required for 2 - 3 weeks of weekday orientation prior to starting)

Ward B8 is a busy, acute ward caring for patients with neurological conditions including; brain tumours, head injuries, spinal tumours, movement disorders and seizures. As the largest inpatient neuroscience facility in the South Island, it is a busy medical and surgical environment caring for a complex patient group with a diverse range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions.
About the Role
Our clerical team provide a key role in the effective function of our ward. The work involves transaction of admissions, discharges, transfers and management of patient records.
Working in the reception area you will be the first point of contact for patients, whanau, visitors and various hospital and health provider staff.
To be successful in this role you will ideally be from a clerical background, be an excellent communicator and have fantastic organisational skills. As front of house, you will need a friendly and welcoming disposition and a willingness to help those around you.
Responsibilities include:
- General clerical and administrative tasks
- Entering information to the patient management system
- Booking patients for clinic appointments
- Answering phones and greeting patients and their families
- Delivering great customer service
About you
Skills and experience
This role requires the following:
- Have administrative experience
- Have an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in your work
- Be an excellent communicator and uphold a professional manner with patients and colleagues
- Have strong computer skills
- Ideally have a health background or a basic understanding of medical terminology
- Be able to prioritise and keep calm in busy situations
- Database experience is desirable
