Social Worker - Child Health - Christchurch
Full time 1.0 FTE [40 hours per week] parental leave cover position through to 27 July 2026

About the Role
Our team is a professional and highly skilled Social Work team, who display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for health social work. We enjoy the challenge of delivering patient centred care in a fluid and dynamic multidisciplinary environment.We respond to a diverse range of health and social needs, no two days are the same, as we provide a 24/7 Monday to Friday service with six teams across the Christchurch Hospital Campus. There will be an after hours component and some weekend work required in this role.
This role is based in the Child Health team.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Social work assessment, monitoring and support of patients
- Triaging workloads to meet patient needs and service demands.
- Attending and participating in social work team and departmental activities, projects and staff meetings
- Participate in service development and quality assurance initiative/processes.
- Supporting team needs with work prioritisation and delivery
- Work in partnership with our Maori Health team
- Working across our teams to support service demand
About You
This role will see you working alongside different multidisciplinary teams so being a team player who can quickly adapt will be essential to your success. - Competency in the use of digital technology
- Experience in Child Health desirable
- Knowledge of care, protection and family violence
- You will be able to work effectively in teams and independently
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work within a Multidisciplinary team
- Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- The ability to flex and adapt to meet work demands
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all walks of life
- Current APC and NZ Registration is required
