Landscape gardener - Queenstown

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the construction, development, and maintenance of landscaped gardens and outdoor areas in accordance with plans and specifications. This role involves both soft and hard landscaping, plant care, and the use of various tools and machinery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interpret and implement landscape plans and drawings
• Prepare soil and garden beds for planting
• Plant and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns
• Install and maintain irrigation systems
• Construct landscape features such as paving, retaining walls, decks, pergolas, and fencing
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery
• Prune, mulch, fertilise, and control pests and weeds
• Lay and maintain turf and grass areas
• Perform regular garden and grounds maintenance
• Comply with health and safety procedures on-site

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certificate in Landscape Construction, Horticulture, or equivalent (or higher qualification)
• At least 1–2 years of relevant hands-on experience (or 3+ years without formal qualification)
• Competence in reading and interpreting landscape plans
• Proficiency in operating garden machinery and tools
• Knowledge of plant species, soils, and garden care techniques
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently and in a team
• A current driver’s licence (essential)

HOURS OF WORK:

The minimum guaranteed hours of work are 30 per week, primarily due to the impact of inclement weather. However, on most days, you will typically be scheduled to work 8.5 hours.
