Civil Project Manager – Wellington Based

We’re on the hunt for a capable, hands-on Civil Project Manager to help drive our growing pipeline of work across the Wellington region. If you’ve got a knack for keeping complex jobs moving, managing people without micromanaging, and delivering quality outcomes — we want to hear from you.
At Groundworks, we self-perform a wide range of civil construction projects: drainage, earthworks, roading, and three waters infrastructure. We back our people, cut the fluff, and get the job done properly.
What you’ll be doing: Taking ownership of project delivery from start to finish
Leading project planning, programming, and resource coordination
Managing budgets, claims, subcontractors, and client relationships
Overseeing safety, quality, and environmental compliance
Working closely with our site foremen and operations team to keep things on track
What we’re looking for: 5+ years’ experience in civil project delivery (ideally in drainage, roading, or infrastructure)
Confident with programming tools (MS Project or similar)
Familiarity with NZS3910 and local authority specifications (WWL, WCC, LHCC, KCDC, etc.)
Strong communication and leadership skills — you know how to run a crew and keep clients in the loop
Proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused
