About the Role
This role offers exceptional variety and the opportunity to work closely with a wide range of specialists both internally and externally. You will build and maintain strong working relationships and experience the full spectrum of psychiatryfrom enduring mental illness to trauma, grief, and acute distress.
You will be part of a supportive, caring, closeknit team where no two days are the same.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical services to tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau within Te Whatu Ora Waikato boundaries
- Applying psychiatric expertise to ensure current knowledge, skills and attitudes inform clinical decisionmaking
- Participating in clinical partnership to ensure tangata whaiora and their whanau receive integrated, effective, and efficient assessment and care

About the Team and Service
We are the Mental Health and Addictions Service arm of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato. Home Based Treatment (HBT) operates within the Crisis Assessment and Home Treatment (CAHT) team.
Crisis Team:
- Provides support to service users experiencing acute crisis in the community
- Responsible for assessment and shortterm care
- Experts in acute care management
- Operates 24/7
Home Based Treatment (HBT):
- Offers an alternative to hospital admission
- Operates 8am8pm, 7 days per week
- Provides a comprehensive, intensive package of intervention for up to 3 weeks
- Multidisciplinary and focused on supporting service users in the least restrictive environment
If hospital admission is being considered, HBT is encouraged as the first option wherever appropriate.
About You
To be considered, you will bring:
- Vocational registration in Psychiatry (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Versatility and flexibility with a passion for teambased care
- Commitment to service enhancement and continuous improvement
- Dedication to eliminating health inequities
