Piggery Assistant Manager
New Plymouth
We are looking for an assistant manager to join our team. As an assistant manager of our piggery
unit you are expected to
Roster is Monday to Friday, plus roster weekend work is required as well as public holidays on
a roster basis, as we are a farm and animals need attending to on a daily basis.
All PPE is provided.
Training is provided on our farm systems and OSH
unit you are expected to
- Perform farming activities to breed and raise pigs to ensure pigs are healthy and well cared for
- Monitor and maintain healthy conditions for pigs
- Prepare pig feed by Mill and Mixing their feed
- Observe and record information relating to pig health, genetics and herd performance
- Operating equipment and machinery
- Assist monitoring pigs to ensure have good drinking water
- Moving of stock within the farm and sorting pigs for market
- Assist in selection of breeding pigs for farm replacement stock
- Assist in the care of the sow and litter from pre-farrowing to weaning
- Assist in care of weaners pigs
- Assist with the breeding pigs (mating, artificial insemination, vaccinations and sow
- Cleaning out pens, includes water blasting, checking for maintenance and disinfecting.
- Attend meetings /briefings with Owner, farm manager and other staff in regards of farm plans
- Applicant must be a team player and help promote a inclusive working environment.
- Applicants for this position should have NZ residency, a valid NZ work visa or ability to obtain.
- Pass a drug and alcohol test.

The job has a minimum of 30 and a maximum 46 hours per week.Job location is Lepperton
Wage rate will be dependent on experience and will range between at $23.95 to $29.66 perhour. With passing AGITO courses a higher rate of pay is possible
