About the role

NZCL is looking for an energetic and motivated Team Leader to work alongside, coach, and mentor rangatahi and tamariki in our Intensive Support Services in Christchurch.

This role involves a mixture of morning, afternoon, and evening shifts across the week. Flexibility to support your team across various shifts is essential.

What does a Support Worker Do? - He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko?

Our Support Workers assist rangatahi and tamariki to live as independently as possible in their community.

You will:

  • work as a team to ensure consistency in your approach
  • support tamariki or rangatahi to go to school or access education
  • observe and respond to health concerns or support overall health and wellbeing
  • support rangatahi to work towards goals and improve outcomes.

Who are we looking for? - Ko wai ta tatou e rapu ana?
  • A desire to support rangatahi to learn new skills and achieve outcomes
  • Minimum Level 3 Health and Wellbeing qualification (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working with rangatahi
  • Understanding of Intellectual Disability and Autism
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Maori and Pasifika cultural norms (advantageous)
  • Ability to speak Te Reo Maori (a bonus)
  • Creativity, 'out of the box' thinking, and a team player attitude
  • Full NZ driver's licence
