Cook - Queenstown

Meat Preachers is a Queenstown-based business passionate about slow-cooked meats and bold, handcrafted flavours. We're on the lookout for a skilled Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. This is a full-time, permanent position with guaranteed hours and a focus on quality, consistency, and teamwork.

• Inspecting ingredients and raw materials to ensure freshness and quality
• Adjusting and monitoring oven, grill, and other kitchen equipment settings
• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to recipe and service timing
• Adding herbs, spices, and other seasonings during the cooking process
• Plating meals attractively and applying finishing touches like sauces or garnishes
• Ensuring food is stored safely and correctly in fridges, freezers, or hot holding units
• Preparing meals tailored to special dietary needs (e.g., gluten-free, vegetarian)
• Assisting with menu development and forecasting ingredient quantities when needed
• Supporting and guiding junior kitchen staff or apprentices as required

• Pay: $29 – $34.00 per hour (depending on experience).
• Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week.

• Minimum 2 years' experience working in a commercial kitchen.
• Qualification in cookery (preferred) or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safe kitchen practices.
• Strong time management and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work rostered shifts including weekends and public holidays.
