Innovative Beef Farming Meets Coastal Living

You'll work hands-on with:
  • Moving stock through our cell/techno grazing system
  • Development projects including fencing, water systems and stock yards
  • Working with 250-300 Angus breeding cows
  • Managing growing/finishing operations for 800-1400 Friesian bulls
  • Participating in soil health monitoring and pasture improvement projects
  • Operating farm equipment including tractors, side-by-sides, and ATVs
Upokorau Farm uses innovative farming practices that work with nature. Our approach focuses on:
  • Innovative Grazing Systems: Using rotational grazing to build soil health, increase biodiversity, and sequester carbon
  • Technology-Enhanced Farming: Currently 160 hectares expanding to 350 hectares of grazing cells that optimize pasture utilization and stock performance
  • Sustainable Stock Management: Transitioning from sheep to specialized bull beef operation while maintaining high-performing Angus breeding herd
  • Natural Resource Enhancement: Working with 500 hectares of mature native bush, rivers, and waterfalls to create balanced ecosystems
What We're Looking For:
  • Physically fit with ability to work outdoors in all weather
  • Farming experience
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • At least one well-trained working dog (more preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for learning new farming practices
  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Valid New Zealand driver's license (Class 1 minimum)
  • Right to work in New Zealand
  • Stock handling experience with cattle and sheep
  • Mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn basic maintenance
  • 4WD/LUV/Motorbike experience
  • Animal health awareness
  • Vet & medication administration experience
  • Interest in sustainable agriculture
  • Growsafe certification, First Aid
