Protect the future health of Wellington's wastewater network through intelligent monitoring and early detection.Shape and advance trade waste technology and best practice across the regionPetone office and field-basedThis is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.The remuneration range for this role is $80,369 to $113,462 p.a. (including KiwiSaver), depending on skills and experience.The opportunityIn this role you'll safeguard the performance of wastewater networks and treatment plants by monitoring and managing trade waste discharges.

You'll lead the identification, implementation and operation of monitoring technologies, ensuring early warnings and proactive risk mitigation. Acting as the organisation's subject matter expert, you'll provide technical advice, support compliance, and work closely with operations teams to protect the long-term health of wastewater assets.You will:Implement and maintain monitoring technologies and sampling systemsAnalyse data to detect risks and inform interventionsAdvise internal teams on trade waste impacts and mitigationBuild effective relationships with customers and regulatorsImprovement and trial of emerging monitoring technologiesAbout youTo be successful in this role, you will bring:Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent experienceFull NZ Driver's LicenseProven experience in wastewater, trade waste, or environmental monitoringHands-on capability with monitoring technology, sampling systems and data interpretationStrong stakeholder, communication, and problem-solving skillsBenefitsAt Wellington Water, our purpose extends beyond delivering great water services for the region; we foster a thriving community, support a diverse workforce, and offer supportive development opportunities.
