About the Role:We are seeking a skilled and reliable Field Mechanic to join our team. This role involves carrying out servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of earthmoving machinery, trucks, and light vehicles. While much of the work will take place in our fully equipped workshop, the role also includes regular callouts to various job sites across the region, responding to breakdowns and supporting field operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs on heavy machinery, trucks, and support vehicles.
- Attend breakdowns and machinery faults on-site, often in time-sensitive or high-pressure environments.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and software.
- Keep accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Liaise with operators, site managers, truck drivers and other team members to coordinate machinery downtime and service requirements.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised work area and service vehicle.
- Assist in workshop duties when not attending callouts.
- Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent trade certification).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working with heavy machinery and/or earthmoving equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and respond promptly to callouts.
- Full NZ Driver's Licence (Class 2 and WTR endorsements desirable).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
