Auto Electrician

We are seeking a talented Auto Electrician / Electrical systems Technician to join our team at Elite Auto Center Ltd' in Penrose, Auckland. As a full-time, permanent member of our electrical department. The business provides a range of services to complement its core offering such as vehicle compliance, collision repair, WoF, after-sales maintenance and repair services for dealers.
What you'll be doing:- Test automotive electrical systems to find and fix faults.
- Installation/Removing of electrical control systems.
- Repair and replace automotive electrical systems such as charging and starting systems.
- Repair and replace electronic systems such as engine-management systems, air-conditioning systems, ABS brakes, electronically controlled gearboxes, instrument panels and vehicle computers.
- Install car security and entertainment systems.
- Verify whether imported vehicles (classes MA, MB, MC, and NA) are equipped with ESC as per NZTA standards.
- Inspect and assess vehicles equipped with the ITS Connect system (operating on 760MHz frequency).
- Reprogram or configure vehicle systems to change display language from Japanese to English.
- Champion health and safety.
- Automotive electronics, electrical theory and circuit diagrams.
- Ability to read and understand Japanese technical manuals (language proficiency or strong technical familiarity required).
- Strong diagnostic skills with modern vehicle electrical systems and scan tools.
- Familiarity with New Zealand compliance standards, including ESC requirements for imported vehicles.
- Experience working with aftermarket electrical components and systems like ITS Connect.
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
- Certification in Automotive Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Experience working with hybrids or EVs is a bonus.
- Understanding of NZTA import and compliance processes is advantageous.
- Current clean, full Class 1 driver licence (Ability to drive a MT).
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivation and strong work ethic.
- Time management skills.
- Accurate and logical.
- Methodical and patient.
- Safety-conscious.
