Automotive Painter/ Panel Beater/ Damage Estimator

Opportunities have arisen for full time Automotive Painter, Panel Beater and Damage Estimator to join our team based in Wellington and Lower Hutt. We pride ourselves on working to a high standard with excellent working conditions and environment.

Key Tasks and Skills required for the Automotive Spray Painter role will include:

  • Paint Vehicles in accordance to processes and procedures
  • Mix and match paint colours to achieve a flawless match
  • Be competent at Vehicle Paint Finishing eg. Cut & Polish, Paint Correction etc
  • Be competent with Paint Application
  • Inspect finished products for quality and ensure they meet company standards
  • Water-based experience is a must
  • Attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised
  • Knowledge of Masking, Polishing, Prepping and Painting to high standard.
  • Keeping work area clean and safe as per H&S requirements.

Key Tasks and Skills required for the Panel Beater role will include:

  • Remove and replace parts to access repairs to allow for painting
  • Align and reshape damaged panels and frames
  • Replace sections of vehicles and weld in replacements following manufacturers' instructions
  • Repair and replace damaged vehicles to manufacturer standards.
  • Experience in structural repairs
  • Apply strong knowledge of panel beating methods and materials
  • Provide high-quality workmanship with a keen attention to detail.
  • Trade qualification or equivalent certification as well as I-CAR MIG welding qualification. Min 3 Years experience.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Skills in all repair aspects, from rust repairs to structural repairs.
  • Plastic welding experience.
  • Keeping work area clean and safe as per H&S requirements.

Key Tasks and Skills required for the Automotive Damage Estimator role will include:

  • Inspecting and assessing the extent of damage to vehicles
  • Preparing accurate repair estimates and quotations for accident vehicles
  • Liaising directly with clients, insurance companies, and external repair shops
  • Coordinating vehicle repairs to ensure timely turnaround
  • Ensuring all repair work complies with health and safety and vehicle standards
  • Maintaining accurate records of repairs and estimates Key Requirements
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in vehicle assessment
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally with both clients and business partners
  • Strong writing and speaking skills to prepare quotes and explain damage assessments clearly
  • Good understanding of automotive repair processes and standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases at once
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Knowledge of NZ insurance procedures or willingness to learn is advantageous.
  • Experience with quoting systems (e.g. Panel Quote) is an advantage

You will need the following:

  • A clean full-driver license
  • Panel beater or Automotive Spray Painter certification, or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be a team player
  • Consistently produce a high standard of work
  • Thorough knowledge of automotive industry safety specifications and regulations.
  • The pay rate is competitive and negotiable depending on skill and experience.
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand
