We are looking for a practical, reliable Gardener to join our team delivering high-quality public gardens, streetscapes, parks, and amenity areas throughout the Fiordland community.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with plants, notices the details, and takes pride in creating spaces that residents and visitors can enjoy year-round.

  • About the Role
As a Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving a variety of public gardens and landscape areas to a high standard. Creating and maintaining public spaces our community can be proud of.
  • Responsibilities include:
Planting and garden development
Weeding and garden presentation
Pruning shrubs, perennials, and small trees
Mulching and soil improvement
Fertiliser application
Pest and disease identification and treatment
Irrigation monitoring and basic maintenance
Seasonal planting and garden rejuvenation
Litter removal and presentation checks within garden areas
Assisting with landscape improvement projects and community beautification initiatives

Using tools, equipment, and vehicles

What We’re Looking For
  • Essential
Full New Zealand Driver Licence
Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
Commitment to health, safety, and professional standards
  • Preferred
Previous horticulture, gardening, landscaping, nursery, or amenity maintenance experience
Traffic Management qualification (or willingness to obtain)
Chemical handling / Growsafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
Knowledge of plant identification, pruning, and garden maintenance practices
Experience operating outdoor power equipment and small machinery
