Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week)
Salary Range: NZD $28.00 to $32.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The House of Chang Thai is a well-established Thai restaurant located in Whitianga, offering authentic Thai Cuisine in a welcoming and fast paced environment. Under new ownership, the restaurant has been successfully reestablished and continues to grow, focusing on quality food, excellent service, and consistency.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated chef to join our team and support our kitchen operations. This role is key to maintaining our food quality standards and ensuring efficient day-to-day kitchen performance.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook a variety of Thai dishes to a high standard in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Assist in menu planning, including daily specials and seasonal offers
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented in accordance with established recipes and quality standards
- Manage food preparation, portion control, and minimise waste
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and check deliveries
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment
- Work collaboratively with front of house staff to ensure timely service
- At least 3 years relevant work experience as a Chef or Cook in a commercial kitchen
- Experience working in a high-volume or fast paced hospitality environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations
- Experience with stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
- Ability to prepare a wide range of dishes consistently and efficiently
- Experience with Asian or Thai Cuisine is preferred but not essential
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to food quality
- Initiative and ability to work independently when required
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a team environment
