The role
Join us at Alpine as an Arborist and help keep South Canterbury’s power network safe and reliable. We're excited to have two openings for skilled arborists to carry out vegetation control around overhead power lines, respond to storm events, and maintain equipment, all while working across our beautiful region.This is a permanent role based in Timaru, with opportunities to grow your skills and make a real impact. If you are a general arborist looking to upskill to a climbing/utility's arborist, we will help you get the right qualifications.
As an Arborist in our team, you will:- Perform safe vegetation control near 400V and high-voltage lines (11kV and 33kV)
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and complete accurate documentation
- Support emergency response and continuous improvement initiatives
- NZQA Level 4 Arboriculture qualification (or working towards it)
- Class 2 driver’s licence
- Experience in utility arborist work and EAC/PHC competencies
- Strong focus on safety and teamwork
- 4WD experience
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification
- Rigging and climbing skills
