We’re seeking an enthusiastic Cook to join our Montessori Preschool team in Heathcote Valley. This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly team, passionate about the development of children, with a meaningful role embedded in the local community - as you prepare nutritious meals for the children in our centre.
About the Role:- Utilising our menu, confidently prepare a well-balanced diet for up to 100 nursery, toddler, and preschool children across the centre.
- As the sole cook, you’ll need to think on your feet to adapt the menu when required, including accommodating various food requirements and/or food allergies.
- Responsible for all food orders, food preparation, documentation, and cleaning duties. This role requires an organised individual with excellent time management skills to meet classroom routines.
- Actively engage in special celebrations. You will have the opportunity to bring your creative ideas to enhance special occasions through meals, such as for Halloween, Diwali, Christmas, etc.
- Full-time, Monday to Friday position. Hours are between 7:00 am - 4:30 pm, with some flexibility to manage your start and finish times.
- 3+ years’ experience in food preparation and food stock control, ideally with experience working independently.
- A sound understanding of basic food safety, with food safety training preferred but not essential. This includes a strong understanding of different food requirements and allergies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to receive and respond to feedback.
- Successful applicants will need to undergo a working with children safety check, including a police background check.
- You must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. We are not currently providing visa sponsorship opportunities to offshore applicants.
