YTNT NZ (Sushi Ball House) is looking for a full-time Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. We specialise in authentic Japanese cuisine, prepared with the finest Japanese and Korean ingredients. From fresh sushi and bento boxes to donburi rice bowls, tempura, noodles, and more – we take pride in delivering high-quality dishes with exceptional flavour.

• Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
• Minimum guaranteed hours: at least 30 hours weekly - Max 48 hours
• Location: Christchurch

Your day-to-day work will involve:

• Ordering food supplies and managing stock control
• Training and mentoring kitchen staff
• Managing portions, controlling and maintaining food quality
• Planning menus & developing seasonal and specialty Japanese dishes
• Preparing ingredients and crafting sushi, sashimi, tempura, and other traditional dishes
• Estimating and advising on food costs and pricing
• Collaborating with kitchen staff on preparation issues & managing the team
• Ensuring dishes are prepared following traditional Japanese techniques and recipes
• Monitoring quality from food preparation to final presentation

Applicants for this role should have:

• Relevant work experience (at least 2 years), or a diploma in cookery, or a bachelor’s degree in any field
• Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Strong time management and multitasking skills to manage fast-paced kitchen
• Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing dishes

This is a great opportunity for a diverse and challenging role in a fast-paced environment. Remuneration is negotiable for the right candidate, between $28.00 -$34.00 per hour depending on the number of experiences and qualifications.
