About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a recently graduated Registered Midwife to join our core midwifery team working within the Wairarapa Ata Rauru Maternity Services. You will work a 0.8 part time employment, this arrangement allows you to strike a balance between your clinical responsibilities, commitments to the Midwifery First Year of Practice (MFYP), and personal life.

You will become part of a supportive and enthusiastic, dynamic and committed team of Midwives providing an innovative approach to healthcare, with the bonus of a healthy balanced lifestyle and opportunities for professional development.

About the Team

Join a busy, supportive and dedicated team and make a real difference to our mothers and their whanau. The Wairarapa has a proven track record of developing innovative models of care through collaboration of primary and secondary health providers.
You will be supported and awhi'd by our Midwifery Clinical Coach and Midwifery Educator to ensure that you are able to consolidate your knowledge and skills. Our maternity service provides care for birthing women in the Wairarapa region with just under 500 births per annum.

Midwives work across their scope of practice by providing care to ante and postnatal inpatients and working alongside their LMC colleagues to provide secondary intrapartum care.

Wairarapa is a vibrant place to live, work and enjoy the range of leisure pursuits and entertainment options available while only being a quick drive or train ride into our capital city Wellington.

About you
  • New Zealand Registered Midwife
  • A current practising certificate with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand
  • The ability to work effectively within a busy environment with competing demands, embracing new challenges and applying their skills and knowledge in a diverse clinical setting.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and proactive manner that instils confidence in clients and colleagues with an awareness of and sensitivity to individual and cultural differences
