About the role:Based in Whangarei, we are currently seeking a Kennel Attendant to join our team at a brand-new shelter. You’ll be working closely with our animal welfare team—who genuinely care for our shelter dogs.
We’re looking for someone who’s hands-on, compassionate, and not afraid to get stuck in. From cleaning and maintaining enclosures to feeding, exercising, and caring for dogs of all sizes—this is a role where your love for animals truly makes a difference.
We have 2 open positions and are offering one full-time and one part-time position—perfect for those looking for balance and purpose in their work.
Mandatory Requirements:To progress through the recruitment process, you must consent to and be able to satisfy pre-employment checks, including:
- Driver’s Licence, Credit Checks, and Ministry of Justice Criminal History Check
- Currently residing in the Whangarei region & legally entitled to work in New Zealand
- Comfortable and confident with handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- A current Certificate of Approval (COA) or willingness to obtain one
- Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
- Display honesty, reliability, and strong integrity
- Good physical fitness and stamina
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
- Cultural awareness and respect for diversity
- Brings a caring, compassionate approach to animal care
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Maintains a high level of hygiene and cleanliness
- Is reliable, committed, and has strong time management skills
- Brings positive energy and a great sense of humour to the workplace
