Position: Welder / Axle Assembler
Location: Dargaville, Northland
Type: Full-time / Permanent
Pay Range: $30 to $35 per hour
Days: Monday to Friday (with occasional calls on weekends)

Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours per week

The Company:
Our client is a leading New Zealand manufacturer and supplier of high-quality trailer parts and componentry, with over 30 years of proven industry expertise. Known for their innovation, performance, and precision engineering, they specialise in producing premium axles and suspension systems for the transport and trailer industry.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled Welder / Axle Assembler to join their production team and help deliver outstanding results to their customers.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Welder / Axle Assembler, your main responsibilities will include precision MIG welding, axle processing, and final assembly of components. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Weld and assemble axle components including stub axles, brake mounts, and suspension parts, ensuring strength and accuracy.
  • Perform high-quality MIG welding and fabrication to meet production and safety standards.
  • Cut, drill, clean, and paint axle components as required for finishing.
  • Operate presses and machinery to form gullwing axles, camber adjustments, and torsion suspension components.
  • Assemble hubs, brakes, bearings, and electrical components for completed axle systems ready for dispatch.
  • Conduct quality checks and adjustments to ensure all axles meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Support wider manufacturing operations as needed, including kitset assembly, warehouse dispatch, and general workshop duties.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least three years of relevant work experience in welding or fabrication.
  • Certified proficiency or strong proven ability in MIG welding.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and experience with cutting, drilling, and hand tools.
  • Good physical fitness to safely manage manual tasks.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
  • Flexibility to assist across other departments when required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Must have a clean police report with no charges pending.
