Experienced Shop Manager – Automotive Industry Focused

We are seeking a full-time Shop Manager with hands-on experience in the automotive industry. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment and has a solid background in customer service.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • A related qualification at a minimum of bachelor’s level, such as Business Management, Business Administration, or International Business, may substitute for the required experience (overseas qualifications must be comparable to the New Zealand standard)
Key responsibilities
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the automobile shop, including mechanical services, repairs, and sales of automotive products.
  • Developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote services, attract new customers, and retain existing clients.
  • Supervising and managing staff, including but not limited to mechanics, sales assistants, and administrative personnel, to ensure high service quality and productivity.
  • Monitoring sales performance, preparing reports, and analysing data to identify opportunities for business growth and improved efficiency.
  • Overseeing stock control, ordering automotive parts, tools, and consumables, and negotiating with suppliers to maintain cost-effective operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintaining a safe working environment for staff and customers.
  • Handling customer enquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and operational standards for the shop.
  • Preparing and managing budgets, monitoring financial performance, and controlling expenses to achieve profitability targets.
  • Leading staff training and development to enhance technical knowledge and customer service skills.
  • Any other duties the employer reasonably requires to ensure the effective running of the business.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time, permanent position.
  • Wages range from $27 to $50 per hour, depending on your skills and experience. You will be paid weekly.
  • Holiday pay and sick leave will be provided in accordance with New Zealand employment law.
  • You will work in Auckland.
  • The role operates 5 days per week, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 48 hours per week.
