The Crown Response Office was established in September 2024 to coordinate and facilitate cross

The Office sits within the Public Service Commission.
The creation of the Office within a central Government agency was a key recommendation in the Royal Commission's final report, Whanaketia
  • through pain and trauma, from darkness to light.

The Crown Response Office plays an important strategic, advisory and coordination role to ensure the Crown is joined up and focused on the right priorities.

We currently have four newly created fixed term or secondment opportunities for Senior Advisors in our Redress System Strategy team until 30 June 2026.
The Senior Advisor Redress Programme plays a key role in supporting the design and delivery of the Crown's redress system for survivors of abuse in care.

Working as part of the Redress System Strategy team, the role involves leading specific workstreams or projects, developing operational policy, tools and guidance, and contributing to cross-agency system design and implementation.The Senior Advisor is expected to exercise sound judgement, apply strong analytical and writing skills, and engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.

The role carries a degree of autonomy and responsibility for delivering end-to-end pieces of work.Key responsibilities include:Lead and manage complex cross-agency workstreams or components of the Redress programme.Deliver high-quality tools, frameworks, policies and other outputs that support implementation of Cabinet decisions.Produce well-reasoned, clear and accessible advice and guidance for senior leaders and delivery agencies.Translate complex technical or legal content into practical implementation tools.Apply insights from data, operational feedback and engagement to support continuous improvement.Represent the programme in interagency settings and lead cross-agency engagement as required.Use principled negotiation and collaborative working methods to develop shared approaches.Engage with survivor and community groups in a trauma-informed and culturally respectful manner.You will bring:Proven experience in cross-agency programme delivery, policy implementation, or operational policy development in a public sector environment.The ability to plan and carry out work independently, exercising initiative and managing complexity with minimal oversight.Strong writing and analytical skills
