Hourly Rate: $25.00–$30.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)

Als Roast & Qiaos Chinese Takeaways is a popular and busy 7-day operation located in Snells Beach, Auckland. We specialise in Chinese and Asian-style takeaway dishes, including roast meats and fast wok-fried meals. As our customer base continues to grow, we are seeking two talented and experienced Chinese/Asian cuisine cooks to join our friendly and hardworking team.

• Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese and Asian fast food dishes, ensuring consistent quality and presentation
• Operate a wok to stir-fry ingredients quickly over high heat, maintaining authentic flavours
• Prepare Chinese-style roast meats (e.g., roast pork, roast duck, BBQ pork) using proper marinating, roasting, and carving techniques
• Follow standardised recipes and portion guidelines for efficiency and cost control
• Set up and stock cooking stations with necessary ingredients and supplies
• Assist in menu planning and seasonal item updates
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with New Zealand food safety standards
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to avoid shortages during peak hours
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth, timely food preparation
• Clean and maintain equipment regularly, particularly the wok and roasting stations
• Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of food

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cook specialising in Chinese/Asian cuisine
• Proven skills in both wok cooking and Chinese-style roasting
• Good understanding of traditional Asian ingredients, flavours, and cooking methods
• Ability to perform under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
• Familiarity with food hygiene and safety regulations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliability and flexibility to work across shifts, including weekends
