Position Summary
To train on the job and gain experience in maintenance work to complete all the requirements of a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4); becoming a competent, qualified Mechanical Technician.Position Responsibilities
- Ensure the formal apprenticeship qualifications required are completed in the appropriate timeframe.
- Provide support in coordinating and assisting Mechanical Technicians with mechanical related work.
- Train in other related areas of the company to provide an awareness of the work undertaken and interact with the people in these areas.
- Become familiar with and comply with relevant standards, codes of practice, and New Zealand legislation.
- Ensure all maintenance and minor modifications to the plant are implemented in accordance with Methanex standards and best practices.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings as well as monthly department meetings.
- NCEA Level 2 in Math and English
- Mechanical Pre Trade qualification (preferred)
- Previous work experience in related field (preferred)
- Understanding of petrochemical industry
- Good level of literacy and numeric ability
- Intermediate level computer skills
- Ability to problem solve, diagnose and identify solutions
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with a wide cross section of people
- Ability to learn and develop
- Current NZ driver’s licence
