Position Summary

To train on the job and gain experience in maintenance work to complete all the requirements of a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4); becoming a competent, qualified Mechanical Technician.
Position Responsibilities

Ensure the formal apprenticeship qualifications required are completed in the appropriate timeframe.
Provide support in coordinating and assisting Mechanical Technicians with mechanical related work.
Train in other related areas of the company to provide an awareness of the work undertaken and interact with the people in these areas.
Become familiar with and comply with relevant standards, codes of practice, and New Zealand legislation.
Ensure all maintenance and minor modifications to the plant are implemented in accordance with Methanex standards and best practices.
Participate in daily toolbox meetings as well as monthly department meetings.

Position Qualifications

NCEA Level 2 in Math and English
Mechanical Pre Trade qualification (preferred)
Previous work experience in related field (preferred)
Understanding of petrochemical industry
Good level of literacy and numeric ability
Intermediate level computer skills
Ability to problem solve, diagnose and identify solutions
Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with a wide cross section of people
Ability to learn and develop
Current NZ driver’s licence
