About the Role Applications are invited for the 2026 year for a 6 to 12 month attachment in Rural Hospital Medicine. This is an accredited training position for the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine. We highly encourage applications from our Māori communities.Candidates who have completed two years post graduate hospital and who have an interest in rural medicine will be considered. We provide an excellent generalist training environment with a broad and interesting case mix. Clinical supervision is provided by rural hospital, emergency medicine and internal medicine specialists.

Position Description Rural Hospital Medicine Thames About the Team/Service Come and join us at Thames Thames has a 15 bed emergency department with an inpatient unit. As a registrar you will gain experience in a broad range of clinical areas.
Thames is a coastal town known as the gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula. There is easy access to native bush with world class walks, tramps and surf beaches in this popular recreational area. This attachment is part of the proposed Te Manawa Taki regional training network, which will include rotations within the Waikato, Lakes and Bay of Plenty districts.
About you As a Rural Medicine Registrar you will Have completed 2 years post graduate hospital placementHave General Registration with MCNZ (or Provisional for doctors new to NZ with at least two years of experience).Be enrolled on the RNZCGP Rural Hospital Medicine training programme or have an interest in Rural Medicine (preference given to RHM trainees, please email Dr Rory Milller if you are interested in joining this programme).
