Wa Ora Montessori School is an Area School based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, catering for approximately 300 children and is the only Montessori School in New Zealand that nurtures the child from 0 to 18years. We are a community based school with close connections to our whanau (families).
Wa Ora Montessori School is seeking an Assistant Teacher to work alongside the Lead Teacher in one of our Yr1-4 classes (6-9yr olds) for a start date of Monday 18th May, 2026.
The hours are term time only, 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday, as well as a 1-hour meeting after school with the Lead Teacher (day to be arranged). There is no requirement to work during the school holidays. You will also be required to attend Teacher Only Days and Staff Meetings after school as necessary, of which you will complete a timesheet.There may also be the opportunity to work extra hours after school in our Extended Afternoon Programme, which would be on an as needed basis.
You will be working as part of a collaborative and friendly team and the ideal applicant would be able to follow direction; take initiative where appropriate; be mobile and agile enough to get to the children's level; be a good listener and a good facilitator.Attention to detail, ability to make classroom materials to a high standard and simple sewing knowledge would be an advantage as well as previous experience working with children.
