About the Role

The Community Cancer Nurse (CCN) provides specialist cancer nursing support focused on symptom management, patient education, and managing the effects of treatment. Working closely with patients in their homes. The Community Cancer Nursing team aims to enhance quality of life by addressing complex symptoms, offering clear and compassionate information about the disease and its treatment, and helping individuals manage side effects effectively.

About the Team

The Community Cancer Nurse (CCN) role provides comprehensive care for patients across the specialties of Medical Oncology, Haematology, and Radiation Oncology, under the umbrella of the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre. Working as part of a close-knit collaborative team, CCNs deliver specialist support within the community.

The team maintains strong collaborative links with other Community Cancer Nurses across the Capital, Coast, and Hutt districts, promoting a consistent and coordinated approach to patient care throughout the region.

About you
  • Strong and successful experience in leading and delivering cancer care
  • Has strong clinical experience in Haematology and Oncology nursing
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Will be confident working autonomously in a community setting
  • Values teamwork and works well within a diverse team.
