Cafe Manager (Full Time)

About You:
- Excellent knowledge of making coffee in busy environment.
- Minimum two years experience in similar environment
- Team Leadership – the ability to support, manage and coach your team
- Be willing to learn and upskill constantly
- Great presentation with strong communication and people skills at all levels
- Ability to work well under pressure and think on your feet
- A can-do positive attitude with a genuine passion for people and hospitality
- Genuine love for hospitality
- Be available to work a flexible roster including weekends
- Relevant industry qualification is an advantage
- Be available on weekend
CHEF
The Bikery cafe is operating a fast-paced café and catering business in Cambridge. The venue is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. We are located at the Velodrome with a busy neighbourhood including Cycling New Zealand, Velodrome Gym and St.Peters School in Cambridge, Waikato.
Our café has a decent seating capacity to accommodate around 70+ patrons including the front of the house and outdoor patio. We offer our customers a large menu focusing on quality, seasonal produce, locally sourced where possible. We also offer a selection of cabinet food and top-notch coffee.
We have an exciting full-time opportunity (minimum 30 hours per week) for an experienced and passionate chef. One of the attractive aspects of this position is that we are a daytime café therefore no nighttime work and split shifts.
Key attributes - you must be committed to excellence, be driven to succeed take full charge during your shift and be able to lead and motivate the team to keep moving the business forward.
Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible and accountable for the following:
- planning, organising and supervising daily food preparation within the Kitchen
- managing the kitchen during your shift
- effective management of all kitchen departments within budgeted objectives
- assisting management with kitchen staff selection and staff training
- assist management with the development of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) within the Kitchen
- you will be required to order stock and maintain a strong relationship with local suppliers
- preparing and cooking food
- assisting in menu development and costing of meal items
- apply creativity and take initiative in introducing new delicious items on the menu based on seasonal fresh supplies, market trends and competitor offerings
- ensuring that the meals are dispatched on time along with maintaining the highest standard of taste and presentation
-effective communication with the kitchen staff and front-of-house staff
Our ideal candidate will have:
- qualification in hospitality and at least 2 years of kitchen experience in a similar role
- good communication and leadership skills and maintaining a high level of food safety and hygiene
- a great attitude with a willingness to learn
- prepared to work long hours and over weekends
- copes well under pressure and is reliable and enthusiastic about culinary arts

“The wage rate for this role will vary between $25 to $35, depending on skills, experience and qualification”
