OverviewTwo Pilot Homes are being established in Dunedin and Hamilton. This is an amazing opportunity to be a part of a new approach to care in our Homes, helping to increase the capacity for care in regions and to be a part of a wider community of practice in the region.The pilot Home will test some new concepts which are aimed at reducing challenges we face when caring for tamariki and rangatahi in small group home settings.The Homes will provide emergency, respite or planned care for up to 5 tamariki in each location.

Care in the Homes will be provided by full

-time live-in caregivers, supported by skilled Care Workers.These 12-month pilot Homes, named 'WHARE', will: Provide Whanau-like care with fulltime, live in caregivers Be Helped by a small group of flexible and qualified care staff, overseen by a Supervisor (Social Worker) Be focused on Achieving the goals and aspirations that tamariki and whanau have set in their All About Me Plan Focus on providing Relational and restorative care Be closely Engaged with local communities, sites and regions with leadership coming from regional teams and accountability to local, external stakeholders Mō te tūnga | About the role: Supervisor HomesThe Supervisor Homes leads a team of support staff within an Oranga Tamariki care Home to ensure the effective delivery of the Home’s purpose and care service objectives.

The Supervisor is responsible for implementing and maintaining protocols, processes, standard operating procedures, and systems that support high-quality service delivery.
The role requires close collaboration with the Community Homes Lead, Site Manager, and Practice Leader, as well as engagement with multi-disciplinary teams, community providers, and key partners.

The Supervisor also delivers training and reflective supervision for caregivers and staff, and ensures services and resources are managed in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, the State Sector Act 1988, and other relevant legislation.What successful candidates will bring to the roleQualifications A relevant tertiary qualification in social work is mandatory A clean, current New Zealand driver’s licence is essentialSkills Proven successful experience in quality social work service delivery Success in influencing improvements in the quality of social work practice Experience in planning, financial management, resource allocation and performance monitoring processes Proven practical background in process planning – including how to set up systems and processes to ensure efficient service delivery with a focus on quality and risk management.

This includes systems and people management aspects of process planning Experience in complex politically sensitive environments
  • Proven and successful people management experience including motivating people for improved performance Successful management of risk in critical situations Proven experience in supporting staff in the complex and sometimes difficult role they undertake Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative peer and other stakeholder relationships
  • A sound knowledge of relevant legislationThis is a fixed term, full-time position based in Dunedin, with an anticipated 1-year appointment.
