About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Psychologist to work between the Diabetes Service and the Intensive Care Unit at Whangarei Hospital. This is for a full time, permanent position working 40 hours per week between the hours of 8.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. The hours will be at 20 hours per week in each service.

We also welcome applications from candidates interested in just one of these posts at 0.5FTE.In this position, you will deliver a proficient and streamlined psychological evaluation and therapy to individuals facing challenges that hinder their capacity to attain optimal functioning and well-being within the Diabetes Service and Intensive Care Unit.Purpose of the role:Provide professional client-centred psychological practice to patients and their whanau/familiesLiaise with the wider hospital in order to meet the patient and whanau's needsBe an effective team memberComplete and update records and data within a timely manner About the LocationFor more information on living and working in Northland, click here About youTo thrive in this role, you must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as the capability to collaborate effectively within a team and fulfil duties at peripheral clinics when necessary.Registered Psychologist with a current NZ practicing certificateComprehensive Psychologist assessment and treatment skillsClinical experience in working with individuals with chronic health conditionsProficient in evidence-based practiceWe would also consider applicants who are:Fully registered under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 with a scope of practice that is appropriate to working as a mental health and addiction clinician e.g. nurse, psychologist, psychotherapist, occupational therapist; ORA fully registered alcohol and drug and/or gambling practitioner member of the Drug and Alcohol Addiction Practitioners' Association Aotearoa - New Zealand (DAPAANZ); ORA fully registered Social Worker; ORA full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
