Our busy automotive repair workshop requires an experienced Panel beater/coach builder/spray painter to join our team.
This is a full-time permanent position based in Whangarei. With a renumeration of $30.00 - $37.00 based on experience, with the ability to grow within the role.
Monday – Friday 7.30am – 5.30pm – Saturday if required 7.30am – 1pm
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
  • Fabricate / panel beat panels where required
  • Prepare surfaces of vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding and applying primers where necessary
  • Coordinate and order product for jobs
  • Mix and match paint colours to achieve desired finishes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Operate spray painting equipment proficiently to apply paint coats evenly and smoothly to achieve a superior finish for the customer
  • Follow manufacturer’s specifications and technical guidelines to achieve desired paint thickness and texture
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity to optimise paint application and finish
  • Inspect finished paint work for quality and accuracy, making any necessary touch-ups or adjustments
  • Ensure paint finishes meet industry standards and customer expectations
  • Keep workspaces and equipment clean, tidy and serviceable
You need
  • A clean, full driver's licence (truck licences would be a bonus but not a requirement)
  • To have experience using multiple paint products
  • To be able to work unsupervised and self-manage
  • Be willing to undergo pre-employment screening tests
  • Speak clear English and be able to complete paperwork when required, be able to use a computer for time keeping purposes.
  • Have knowledge of health and safety and the hazards of operating in a workshop
  • Have a can-do attitude with the ability to problem solve and manage time well
  • A calm and professional temperament and good communication skills
  • You MUST be legally entitled to work in New Zealand and be in New Zealand now.
  • A trade qualification or equivalent certification would be advantageous or 3 yrs of continuous experience in the trade
