Position Overview:
As a Water Service Foreman, you will lead and supervise a team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and high-quality water services to the community.You will oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a crew in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution assets.
- Plan and coordinate daily work schedules, order and allocate resources, and monitor project progress to ensure timely completion.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards. Conduct regular safety inspections.
- Inspect work sites to ensure quality standards are met and that work is performed in compliance with specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects.
- Assist in excavation and backfilling trenches, installing, repairing and replacing water mains, valves and hydrants.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years in water distribution or related infrastructure roles, with at least 1 years as a foreman (or similar).
- Proficient in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems, including pipes, valves, hydrants, and meters.
- Ability to operate machinery and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, and diagrams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team to achieve operational goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, management, and the public
- Ability to identify issues promptly and implement effective solutions to maintain project timelines and quality.
- Ability to work independently, managing time and tasks effectively.
- Full New Zealand driver’s license (WT endorsement preferred).
- Commitment to health and safety standards and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
