Rangitikei Limited Partnership is seeking a motivated shepherd for Makaraka Farm, a 680 hectare beef and dairy support farm. Makaraka's current farming system incorporates dairy beef finishing, and dairy grazers.

Makaraka is one of four farm properties owned by Rangitikei Limited Partnership on the fertile Rangitikei river terraces, just south of Hunterville. The farm is split across all three river terraces and has a flat (56%) to medium hill (26%) contour with 139 hectares under irrigation, split between three center pivot irrigators.

This Shepherd position presents a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a supportive Farm Manager who encourages growth, and where you will be exposed to all aspects of a well-established farming business. The Shepherd will assist the Farm Manager in the day-to-day operation of the property with a 70:30 split between stock work and general work, providing variety.

The properties are managed by Primary Partners, a specialist sheep, beef, dairy, and forestry asset management company. The successful candidate will share our focus on farming our properties as if they are our own and have access to growth opportunities within the group.

We are seeking a motivated shepherd with farm experience and general skills in fencing and other repairs and maintenance work. You should have at least 2 working dogs with a view to growing your team.

The ideal applicant will have a common-sense, can-do attitude and strive to be the best. Attention to detail is vital. You must also be honest, reliable, and willing to become a valuable team member.
