Type: Full-time/Permanent
Pay range: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Days: Monday to Friday, occasional weekends

Hours: Guaranteed 40+ hours per week (standard hours 7:00 am - 4:30 pm, with overtime available)

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will take pride in their workmanship, have a strong focus on quality and productivity, and be comfortable working both in the workshop and on-site. You will be involved in a variety of fabrication projects and work with a supportive, professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical and layout drawings.
  • Fabricate steel parts such as portals, columns, and beams from technical drawings.
  • Weld steel parts and dismantle structures and equipment as required.
  • Assemble steel components according to shop drawings and specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections and quality checks at various production stages.
  • Use a range of tools and equipment including MIG/TIG welders, clamps, grinders, saws, drills, and guillotines.
  • Handle chemicals and solvents safely (e.g., cleaning solvents, cutting oil).
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area.

About you:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant fabrication and welding experience (NZ or overseas).
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and sketches.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and productivity.
  • Capable of working unsupervised or as part of a team.
  • Physically fit and safety-conscious.
  • Holds a valid NZ driver's license.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Knowledge of engineering standards (AS/NZS 1554.1, AS/NZS 5131, ISO 9606).
  • Class 2-5 Truck License.
  • Rigging experience.
  • Forklift, EWP, Height Training, First Aid certifications.
  • Current SiteSafe Passport.
  • Experience with aluminium and stainless steel.
  • Relevant trade qualification.
