placeHamilton calendar_month

We’re looking for a creative, organised, and sport-loving team player to join Northern Districts Cricket as our Marketing and Communications Lead for the 25/26 season. You’ll help us tell the stories of our players, programmes, and communities – from grassroots cricket right through to the Northern Brave and international matches at Seddon Park and Bay Oval.

This is a hands-on role that touches almost every part of the organisation — events, media, social content, partnerships, community, and competitions. If you're passionate about sport, storytelling, and bringing people together, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note that this is a fixed-term parental cover position, until 28 February 2026. Depending on the candidate, we may consider part-time or full-time availability. The successful candidate must have the legal right to work in New Zealand, hold a full driver licence and consent to a police vet.

A job description can be found below. All applications should include a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae to be submitted to careers@ndca.co.nz. We will be reviewing applications and conducting interviews on a rolling basis. Please note that the position may be filled at any time, so we encourage you to apply early.

Due to the high number of applications we typically receive, please note that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Marketing & Campaigns
  • Support the delivery of campaigns across the 2025/26 season – including season launch, “Cricket’s Back”, and our big events.
  • Help promote things like player appearances, awards nights, merchandise drops, and ticket sales.
  • Assist with marketing for community initiatives, coach development, school programmes, and tournaments.
Content & Social Media
  • Create fun, engaging content for our socials, newsletters, and website.
  • Help cover game days (including Super Smash, community tournaments, and festivals) with photos, videos, and live updates.
  • Share stories from across ND – players, schools, volunteers, and programmes.
  • Keep our website and digital channels fresh and up to date.
Community & Events
  • Help bring cricket to life at schools, clubs, and fan events.
  • Support planning and promotion for events like the Season Launch, Golf Day, Auction Evening, and our annual auction.
  • Be part of game-day operations and activations at Seddon Park and Bay Oval.
Commercial & Partnerships
  • Assist with content and signage delivery for our sponsors and partners.
  • Help make sure our partners are well represented at events and in digital content.
  • Coordinate branded giveaways and help with merchandise promotions.
Behind the Scenes
  • Keep our marketing assets organised – think flags, signage, corflutes, and banners.
  • Track and report on social media engagement and campaign results.
  • Support the wider ND team with content and comms across community, high performance, and commercial areas.
What We’re Looking For
  • Someone with strong communication skills – you write well and know what makes good content.
  • Confident using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Comfortable with basic design and video tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Suite.
  • Good at juggling multiple projects and staying organised.
  • Up for working evenings or weekends during the season.
  • Bonus points if you’re handy with a camera, love storytelling, or have experience in sport or events.
Other Info
  • You’ll be based at ND HQ in Hamilton, but will need to travel across the region.
  • A driver’s licence is required.
  • You’ll work closely with almost every team at ND – from comms and commercial to community and high performance.
