Come join us as a Product Manager (Information and Data), full-time permanent role based in our Wellington Customhouse.About this role...Reporting directly to the Manager Workplace Technology and Platforms, the Product Manager, Information and Data is responsible for working with our customers to develop and run sustainable products and services that deliver on both tactical and strategic outcomes.

This role sets the vision and roadmap for Information Management, Data products and Enterprise reporting that align to Custom's organisation strategy. The role is responsible for product planning and delivery throughout the product lifecycle.The role leads the team (of 11 permanent staff and contractors) which is responsible for improving and running products and services within, the information and data portfolio.NZ Customs is seeking someone to evolve our data and information management practices as we help people across Customs use data and information more effectively in their day-to-day work.

This includes a Customs' wide approach to information management initiatives and contributing to an organisational view of information, which is clearly linked to strategic outcomes. The Information and Data Team deliver services across three core areas:Information Management: Implementing the retention and disposal of organisational information and leading the migration of documents from shared drives to SharePoint.Data Reporting: Extracting, preparing, and analysing data to meet regulatory reporting requirements.Business Intelligence: Replacing the legacy on-premises reporting platform with a modern, cloud-based solution using Microsoft Fabric.

The team uses agile sprints, Azure DevOps, and a requirements-led approach to deliver high-quality reporting outcomes for internal and external stakeholders. To be successful as the Product Manager the appointee requires the following knowledge, experience, skills and personal attributes: Demonstrable skills of achieving results with and through people.
Evidenced strength in translating organisational priorities into goals, strategies and plans in the area of responsibility to ensure achievement of results. People leadership experience in people management, including demonstrated capability to manage employment issues and promote change in challenging environments utilising relationship and problem-solving skills.
Expertise delivering or contributing to the delivery of formal projects. Strong problem solving and decision-making capability, including the ability to identify problems, manage or mitigate risks and implement innovative solutions that take immediate and longer-term consequences into account.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills, using communication techniques to ensure clarity of message and achieve the desired result. This includes the ability to speak in public and achieve buy-in from external stakeholders. Financially literate and savvy. How to apply…To join Customs, you must be a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident* and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate level of security clearance to Restricted level. Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record.

Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test. (*) A New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in New Zealand at time of application;OR a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in New Zealand at time of application but may have been absent from New Zealand for periods of six or more months within the past ten years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: either Australia, Canada, United Kingdom or the United States of America.
