Drainage Foreman – Christchurch
As Drainage Foreman, you’ll be leading and managing a team of 4-6 on large, complex drainage projects across the region. This is a hands-on, client-facing role where your planning, leadership, and construction expertise will be key to ensuring projects run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
You’ll be involved in every aspect of the job, from developing work plans to managing subcontractors, ensuring health and safety, and getting on the tools when needed.
What You’ll Do:- Lead and manage a team of 4-6 drainage operators, making sure work is done safely and efficiently.
- Develop work plans and methodologies to keep the project on track.
- Drive productivity on site, ensuring materials, equipment, and resources are all sorted.
- Liaise with subcontractors to keep things running smoothly.
- Set up and implement health and safety processes to keep the site safe.
- Plan and schedule daily tasks to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Get hands-on when required, including operating machinery or stepping in to support your team.

This role will be based in Christchurch, however you may need to travel to other projects throughout NZ.
Do You Have What It Takes?- Able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug test.
- Current and valid rights to work in New Zealand.
- At least 5 years’ experience in civil construction, particularly in drainage work.
- Solid knowledge of stormwater, water reticulation, and wastewater systems.
- Experience with bypass pumping, dewatering, and trench shoring techniques.
- Understanding of drainage specifications and industry best practices.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing people effectively.
- Solid knowledge of health and safety and a commitment to keeping the site safe.
- A clean Class 1 driver’s licence, WTR endorsement, and experience operating machinery.
- A great attitude and a sense of humour to fit in with the team!
We are also looking for people with a Class B Approved Asbestos Removal Supervisor qualification, so if you have one of those, it would be a bonus!
