WHERE

Kawakawa Farm Management Ltd is a privately owned farming business, the farm is managed by Primary Partners which is a specialist sheep, beef, dairy and forestry asset management company. The farm has been developed into a dairy support and sheep breeding operation.

It is a beautiful property, with a mix of flat to medium hill country nestled in the highly desirable rural community of Ngaroma, 25 minutes south of Te Awamutu, Southern Waikato. The farm is a total of 400ha, with 250ha eff. The property is split with a gorge, with native trees and bush along with a block of forestry on the poorer country.

Largely regarded as a summer safe property, with good water the property is well infrastructure, with a main lane way from the front to the back of the property.

WHAT

As the Farm Manager, you will be fully responsible for the day to day management of the property. Previous experience in intensive dairy grazing is essential, with an understanding of sheep breeding and finishing. Primary Partners will support you with the farm policy and financial budgeting.

Key to your success in this role will be your stockmanship and ability to measure and monitor the stock and hit the monthly targets weight gains required. You will require a small team of working dogs.

Strong pasture management and your ability to feed budget, understand DM and feed availability is key. Feeding stock is essential with both pasture and forage crops on farm. The farm does their own baleage with contractors.

This is a sole charge managers position, requiring the successful candidate to work autonomously, take ownership and treat the farm as their own. You will need to be a self-starter, organised and have the enthusiasm to achieve set KPI's by having good observation skills and attention to detail.

WHO

Our client is looking for a Farm Manager who has strong communication skills, both verbal and written. The below are also key to success in this role:

  • Strong stockmanship, with attention to detail and strong observation skills.
  • Ability to measure/monitor stock, understand target weight gains.
  • Strong pasture and feed management/budgeting. A good feeder of stock.
  • Crop experience - brassicas - rape crop.
  • Computer literacy, some previous experience with farmax would be beneficial.
  • Experience across dairy grazing, sheep breeding, and finishing systems.
  • Financial budgeting and reporting skills are desirable.
  • Be happy to complete general work.
