Hydraulics Hawkes Bay is a family owned and run business based in Napier. We specialise in the repair, service, and manufacture of a wide range of hydraulic machinery and equipment. Due to an expanding workload, we are seeking a skilled Fitter / Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including in-house and on-site repairs and manufacturing. Your work will cover a diverse range of machinery including pumps, motors, cylinders, cranes, excavators, forestry and earthmoving equipment, fishing vessels, trucks and even factory production lines.

Role Overview:In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including in-house and on-site repairs and manufacturing. Your work will cover a diverse range of machinery including pumps, motors, cylinders, cranes, excavators, forestry and earthmoving equipment, fishing vessels, trucks and even factory production lines.
Your day-to-day will be fast-paced and challenging, but rewarding.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform machinery repairs and manufacture hydraulic components, including pumps, motors, cylinders and hoses
- Work on-site and in the workshop, including installations and maintenance
- Provide high-quality service for cranes, excavators, trucks and other equipment
- Use a wide range of repair tools and possibly welding and machining
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to health & safety protocols
- Strong mechanical aptitude and previous experience in machinery repair or fitting
- Practical, hands-on experience in mechanical fields
- Prior experience in workshop and field service work
- Experience with hydraulic equipment (advantageous)
- Welding and machining experience (beneficial)
- A desire to learn new skills on the job
- Self-driven, organised and reliable
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong time management skills with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
