Project Commercial Manager - Auckland
About The RoleWe’re looking for an experienced Project Commercial Manager to join our team on the Auckland Airport Project. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving the project’s commercial success, ensuring robust contract management, sound financial performance, and effective stakeholder relationships.
As the Project Commercial Manager, you’ll provide strategic guidance across all commercial and contractual matters, working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to ensure compliance, cost control, and value optimisation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all commercial, contractual, and procurement activities for the project in line with company policies and procedures.
- Provide commercial oversight and governance of head contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
- Manage variations, claims, and dispute resolution processes to achieve fair and timely outcomes.
- Support the Project Manager with cost forecasting, reporting, and risk management.
- Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes and systems to enhance project performance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the civil construction industry, with a strong background in commercial management.
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Law, or a related discipline.
- Strong ability to analyse commercial and contractual issues and deliver practical, innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with a proven record of effective negotiation and claim resolution.
- Confident communicator with clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent user of relevant project and financial management systems.
- Collaborative, proactive, and capable of operating effectively in a complex, fast-paced project environment.
